About Us

Established in 1920, Frank Halls & Son is a family run boatyard located on the East Coast of Essex at Walton-on-Naze. We take pride and effort in combining traditional working values with modern practices and technology.

We have an excellent team of skilled staff that has allowed the business to expand and push itself forward. Time has seen the traditional wooden boat being replaced by fibreglass; we have retained through our craftsmen the skills and knowledge of building and repairing wooden boats and also obtained skills for repairing modern fibreglass ones.

Painting is another area in which we specialise, we are an approved Blakes Paint and Osmosis Treatment Centre, and an International Paint approved Centre. We have built on our reputation for excellent finishes.

In the last couple of years we have been fortunate enough to be able set up our own Steel and Stainless Steel Fabrication Workshop, which has proven to be a great success, we hope to expand on this side in the years to come.

From October 2006 Jerry Blake will be taking over our Marine Engineering as an independent. He will be based in the workshop onsite, offering a friendly personal and professional service.
